The Matthew Project
In 2019, we awarded £50,000 towards building refurbishment.
Organisation
The Matthew Project has been supporting vulnerable adults and young people affected by substance misuse across the East of England for more than 35 years. During that time, it has developed a reputation for delivering high quality, effective services, focusing both on prevention and treatment. It supports individuals to recover from substance misuse, improve their mental and physical health, and boost their skills and employability. The charity’s services include information and advice, counselling, and both one-toone and group support.
REFURBISHMENT PROJECT
Having relocated to new premises in late 2018, the charity planned to redevelop the building into a new recovery centre, including space for a community café, exercise studio, therapy rooms, IT suite and art studio. Their application to the Foundation was to support their third and final phase of the refurbishment project which was essential work to make the site more accessible to their service users. At the time of application, the organisation had raised £63,320 towards the cost of the £175,000 project. A grant of £50,000 was awarded.
