Drake Music
In 2020, we awarded a £25,000 grant towards accessible musical instrument collection for people with disabilities in London.
Organisation
Drake Music has been pioneering the use of accessible music technology to break down disabling barriers to making music for more than 20 years. Central to its work is the belief that everyone can fulfil their creative and musical potential, given the right opportunities. The charity explores, develops and delivers outreach, training, artistic development and education initiatives for disabled musicians of all ages and in all genres. Programmes and projects are managed and delivered from bases in Manchester, London, and Bristol, often in partnership with local and regional organisations.
Instrument project
Drake Music wanted to significantly expand its growing and unique collection of accessible and innovative instruments and technologies that enable disabled people to make music just like their non-disabled peers. At the time of application they had raised £17,000 towards a project budget of £150,00. They were awarded a grant of £25,000.
